Why even go there?

We've all felt what it's like to be a failure. Ya know, the sinking feeling in your stomach that won't go away, the looks of disappointment in the people around you? What if you never had to feel like that ever again? It would be easier to just not do things you know you'll fail at. If you set all expectations a little lower than everybody elses, you don't have to feel anything but good when you surpass those expectations or apathetic when you meet them. It's easy to prevent yourself from feelings of inadequacy. Things will always be predictable, but comfortable. That doesn't mean happiness is impossible. Feeling like a failure will only bring you down, especially if you can't change the outcome no matter how many times you attempt to. Imagine the stress free, worry free life you can lead this way. Do you really think it'll be worth it?

  1. I do not think it would be worth it. If you do not fail, how do you know that you will not be successful at something else? If you set your expectations lower, you might not be able to accomplish your full potential. Although it would be a stress free life, you would not be able to become much more than you already are.

  2. I feel that sometimes it would be worth it, because you don't have to experience the feeling in your stomach and looks from people, but more than often it's not worth it. By not even trying to do something, you never learn if you're able to actually do that thing and you can miss out on opportunities. I guess it all just depends on what the situation is.
